Access to a lawyer is a powerful tool to break down the barriers to access to justice and, thus, contribute to the construction of a more just and equitable society. With this conviction, our team actively participates in the representation and legal advice of those who do not have sufficient resources to pay for these legal services.
Since 2017, we have been part of the ProBono Colombia Foundation, through which we provide free legal advice. We are signatories of the Declaration of Pro Bono Work for the American Continent promoted by the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice of the New York City Bar Association with the purpose of making access to justice a reality in the hemisphere.

Favorable protection of the fundamental right to health of a pro bono user at risk of losing a limb
Our firm was able to protect the fundamental right to health of a pro bono user who was at imminent risk of losing a limb due to problems with his EPS. The user was assisted by our team in the legal brigades carried out in the municipality of Chigorodó – Antioquia and, given his manifestly critical situation, we urgently filed a tutela action requesting the immediate attention of the user, which was resolved favorably by the judge. Due to its great impact, the case advised by our firm was recognized by the Pro Bono Colombia Foundation as a Regional Pro Bono Case 2023.

Pro Bono Colombia Foundation Awards and Nominations
“That is one of the things that the Pro Bono Foundation does, but not the only one,” says Carolina Ariza, a lawyer and partner at the Medellín-based firm Ariza & Marín. She has been one of the pioneers in bringing this voluntary work to the capital of Antioquia, and one of the arguments she uses to invite other colleagues, companies and firms to join the initiative is that “one person alone cannot achieve the impact that the foundation has.” (August, 2023).
